Glossary of materials

PEEK (Polyetheretherketone)

PEEK, a super engineering plastic, has high mechanical strength, high temperature resistance (heat distortion temperature of 150°C or higher) and high chemical resistance against most of chemicals and solvents.

PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide)

PPS, a super engineering plastic, has high mechanical strength, high temperature resistance (heat distortion temperature of 219°C or higher) and high chemical resistance against solvents etc.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)

PTFE is resistant to aggressive media, but not elastic. Temperature range from -20 ° C to + 180 ° C.

Perfluoroelastomer (FFKM)

Perfluoroelastomer is a kind of chemically inert fluoroelastomer. Its chemical structure is composed of carbon, fluorine, and oxygen atoms, and it exhibits outstanding chemical resistance to a wide range of chemicals and solvents. Perfluoroelastomers can be used for ketones and esters, which are not compatible with the conventional fluoroelastomers.

Kalrez® (FFKM)

Perfluoroelastomer from the manufacturer DuPont.

Fluoroelastomer (FKM)

FKM combines most of the characteristics of NBR and EPDM and is particularly suitable for hot water and hydrocarbons in the temperature range from -10°C to + 140°C.

Ethylene-propylene-diene-monomer-rubber (EPDM)

EPDM is suitable for hot water and steam. It is resistant to bases and acids in weak concentrations in the temperature range between -40°C and + 140°C.

Nitrile rubber (NBR)

NBR is suitable for air, water, neutral gases, diesel oil and generally for oils and greases in the temperature range between -10°C and + 90°C.

Sigodur

Sigodur (filled PTFE) and RUBIN are rigid materials suitable for use for high pressure industrial valves.
